Brown butter chocolate chip cookies
Share
Growing up, I loved baking, and I still do. When I was eating a little less carelessly, I found this simple recipe. I will share it with you, and please follow exactly—well, at least especially on ‘goldening’ the butter, because that makes all the difference in the taste.
(I don’t know why the above paragraph and some of the writing below is teeny. I will fix it soon as I can. I’ve already tried for the moment—sorry if you have to squint or zoom in to read)
I will state that I’ve been having a better relationship with food, so in the future, if I post any recipes, they will most likely be in a healthier relationship mindset (for the most part—a large part).
Here are the ingredients and directions needed:
3/4 cup butter (unsalted)
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg yolk
1 whole egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups scooped and leveled all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or 8oz chopped chocolate
sea salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Melt butter until golden brown.
Add in 1 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar.
Mix until just combined.
Add 1 egg yolk. 1 whole egg and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract.
Mix until just combined.
Add 1 3/4 cups scooped and level all purpose flour,
3/4 teaspoons baking soda, and
1 teaspoon salt. Mix until just combined.
Add in 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or 8oz chopped chocolate.
Mix
Scoop dough into 2oz balls and roll between hands.
Chill in fridge covered for at least 30 minutes
(important for flavor and texture)
Bake at 350°F for 11–12 minutes. I baked for about 20 or so minutes—depends on your oven and if it’s gas or electric. I’m not a cook person, so I don’t know what those differences are, but common sense lets me tell you that it depends on your oven.
Don’t you just want to grab this cookie from the screen…yummy.
Top with sea salt…so GOOD
You did it! if they don’t look like this, it’s ok not everyone can bake 😁😝
